Schools in Hong Kong reopen under Japanese supervision

First state organised evacuation from Hong Kong of British women and children 
3rd of September 1939
Britain declares war against Germany
29th of August 1843
The Treaty of Nanking is signed, which gives Hong Kong to the British Empire 
4th of September 1839
The first Opium War between British East India and the Qing Dynasty of China began 
25th of December 1941
Hong Kong surrenders to Japan
30th of August 1945
Japan surrendered and Hong Kong is returned to Britain 
1st of October 1949 
The People's Republic of China was founded which caused many civilians of China to move to British Hong Kong
19th of December 1984 
The Sino-British declaration is signed between the UK and the Republic of China. It meant that Britain would relinquish control of Hong Kong to the Republic of China. 
8th of December 1941
Japan invades Hong Kong 
6th to 9th August 1945
USA dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan
7th of July 1937
Second Sino-Japanese War begins near Beijing with the Marco-Polo Bridge incident
7th of December 1941
Japan attacks Pearl Harbour, declaring war with USA and Britain
1st of July 1997
The British lease over Hong Kong ended, Hong Kong was now a Special Administrative Region under the 'One Country, two systems' principle, which gave Hong Kong large control over itself.
